Travelling to the United States of America on holiday

How to get to the US

A number of airlines fly between the UK and the United States of America.

Flight times obviously vary depending on whereabouts in the UK you are travelling from and whereabouts in the USA you are holidaying.

Flights from London Heathrow to New York are one of the shortest, usually taking around 8 hours whereas if you are travelling to Seattle from London this flight can take from 13 to 17 hours (with one stop off).

Travelling around the USA
When it comes to travelling around the USA, a car is for the most part essential unless you are going on a city break.  Towns and villages in the USA tend to be much more spaced out than towns and villages in the UK meaning that a car is pretty much essential for getting from place to place.

If you want to travel between states in the USA, by road this will take a long time.  It is advisable to plan trips along Routes with stop off points and depending on how much time you have it may be possible to drive across and explore a couple of USA states.
